Founded in 2002 by Leeza Gibbons and her family, the Leeza Gibbons Memory Foundation has been created in tribute to Leeza’s mother and grandmother, and in response to the growing needs of both those who suffer from memory disorders and their caregivers.

By blending best practices from contemporary social services, healthcare and advocacy efforts we are creating a national community of physicians, local nonprofits, individuals, caregivers, universities and researchers dedicated to community, care and a cure for Alzheimer's disease and related memory disorders.

Leeza’s Place and the “Memory Consortium”
At the epicenter is the establishment of Leeza’s Places across the country. With Leeza's Place serving as the hub, the Foundation seeks to establish a community "memory consortium" comprised of support, research, a continuum of care, political advocacy, acceptance and wellness. The Foundation is committed to ensuring that no person feels unsupported, alone or lost when a diagnosis is made; while simultaneously advocating for better standards of care, treatment and research.

Leeza's Place, serves as an “oasis” for education, empowerment and energy for caregivers and their recently diagnosed loved ones, and is managed day-to-day by the Leeza Care Advocate. Through the establishment of its community-centered Leeza’s Places, the Foundation is developing a vital and long overdue supportive presence:

» Creating an intergenerational approach to intervention that will educate, empower and energize every caregiver, concerned relative and diagnosed individual
» Developing memory consortiums in every county, in every state across the country
» Developing continuums of care in communities nationwide
» Collaborating with Universities and agencies that promote care, treatment and research
» Advocating and promoting early detection and identification programs of all memory disorders
» Developing affiliations with memory centers, agencies and the neurological community driving research and behavioral outcomes
» Supporting clinical trials and advocacy programs that promote research and curative strategies
» Advocating for key legislative issues at the county, state and national levels

With the growth of Leeza’s Places and the corresponding development of their community “memory consortiums”, the Foundation is quickly creating a national community where research is collected, information shared, and most importantly, people realize that there is hope for the future.

“Hope arouses, as nothing else can arouse, a passion for the possible.” - William Sloane Coffin, Jr.
