Why Leeza Gibbons?
Most Americans have experienced the last twenty years of television with Leeza. Today, they know Leeza Gibbons as the host of a daily, nationally syndicated entertainment newsmagazine and as their unofficial entertainment guru, but her credentials dont end there. Through the years Leeza has built and continues to run a small media empire that includes a production company, a national radio presence and many Emmy awards to highlight her work in radio and television.
In addition, Leeza has always been dedicated to lending her emotional and financial resources to various charities that address health concerns facing America today. Leeza has testified before Congress and is most proud to have received the Congressional Horizon Award for her crusade on childrens issues. She has also been recognized for her humanitarianism by various foundations focusing on AIDS and Alzheimers disease research, racial harmony and childrens illnesses.
But for many years now, like so many other American families, Leezas family has been dealing with Alzheimers disease. Her grandmother succumbed to the disease, just months before her mother, Jean, received the feared diagnosis herself. Not long after that, Jean made Leeza promise to tell the world about Alzheimers disease. As difficult as it has been, Leezas family has and continues to honor Jeans wish. The Memory Foundation and its signature program, Leeza's Place, is the manifestation of their vision for a better standard of care that incorporates the best from holistic and traditional medicine, a shame-free culture for patients and caregivers, and a realistic and coordinated national strategy to finding a cure.
